Coordinating Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa said he was not worried that the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) expects inflation to increase next year on the back of rising food prices around the globe.
“There are too many possibilities to consider in making such predictions, for example if oil prices increase, or if food prices increase,” he said.
Hatta was optimistic that Indonesia would continue to see deflation next year, particularly from the food sector.
“In February, for example, we will have a massive rice harvest. There will be an oversupply that could bring prices down.”
