Pupuk Iskandar Muda secured gas supply

by: Siti Munawaroh
JAKARTA: PT Pupuk Iskandar Muda has secured gas supply in order to continue its production during 2011-2013 as it had received the gas supplies from gas swap in East Kalimantan.

The company has also received long-term gas guarantee from bloc A site in Aceh. For the gas needed of next year,  PIM had received supplies assurance up to 11 cargos and 12 cargos for 2012.

This supply was generated from gas diversion at Arun field site (Exxon) that was swapped with the gas supplies from Bontang field site managed by Total Indonesie.

By the supply, PIM will be able to revive its two units of factory and boost urea fertilizer  production. For its long-term gas need, PIM will be supplied by 110 mmscfd-bloc A site belongs to PT Medco.

PIM will begin to receive this supply by 2013. Such guarantee was main agenda during the meeting between Minister of Energy and Natural resources Darwin Saleh and Industrial Minister M.S. Hidayat, BP Migas and some domestic fertilizer producers today.

“Government has agreed to firstly allocate the surplus 68 cargos of gas supply to the domestic energy and fertilizer need while the remaining allocated for export. PIM somehow has particular interest since the only gas site near the energy resource and can be swapped belonged to PIM,” he said. (t02)
