Jasindo books IDR194.25 billion profit

JAKARTA: PT Asuransi Jasa Indonesia (Jasindo), a state-owned insurance company, booked a net profit of IDR194.25 billion in 2010.

The figure rose by 16.78% from IDR166.33 billion in the previous year.

As stated in its financial report published today, Jasindo last year posted a 2.83% increase in gross premium to IDR2.54 trillion from IDR2.47 trillion in 2009.

Gross claim shrank by 6.5% to IDR1.15 trillion in 2010 from IDR1.23 trillion in the preceding year.

Jasindo obtained investment result of IDR125.18 billion in 2010, decreasing 9.09% from IDR137.71 billion in the previous year.

Income from underwriting in 2010 was at IDR286.54 billion, rising 7.95% from IDR265.42 billion in 2009.

Total investment augmented 10.23% to IDR1.40 trillion from IDR1.27 trillion in 2009. The biggest investment instrument was deposit, which contributed IDR678.19 billion or 48.25% to the total investment.

Jasindo sets the target premium at IDR3.36 trillion, a 32.28% rise, in 2011, according to Acting President Director Jasindo Budi Tjahyono. Most of the targeted premium is expected to source from agent and brokers (70%), while bank is predicted to contribute 30% to the premium. (T04/NOM)
