BRI predicts 86% net profit increase in Q1

The country's second-largest lender by assets, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), predicts its net profits during the first quarter of the year to reach Rp 4 trillion (US$464 million), an increase of 86 percent from last year's figure.

BRI president director Sofyan Basyir shared the prediction with the press on Wednesday, adding that in the first quarter of 2010, BRI booked net profits of Rp 2.15 trillion.

The increase will be supported by loan disbursements, among other means, Sofyan said as quoted by kontan.co.id.

He predicted that BRI's disbursed loans would rise by 22 percent in the first quarter of 2011, adding that, during the same period last year, the credits had grown by 18 percent.
